CO2 FRACTIONAL LASER
WHAT WE OFFER
CO2 laser skin resurfacing is a highly effective treatment for addressing a range of skin concerns, including wrinkles, fine lines, scars, age spots, sun damage, and uneven skin tone and texture. The laser device emits a highly concentrated beam of light energy that is precisely targeted to the skin's surface. The laser vaporises the top layer of damaged skin while stimulating collagen production in the deeper layers. This process improves the skin's firmness and texture.
Good candidates for CO2 fractional laser treatment typically have mild to moderate skin ageing, acne scars, or skin tone and texture irregularities. This procedure is generally most suited for individuals with lighter skin tones due to the risk of hyperpigmentation. Candidates should also be prepared for the downtime associated with the treatment and follow pre-treatment preparation guidelines.
-
Consultation: During the consultation you will discuss your specific skin concerns, goals, and medical history. The practitioner will assess your skin type and determine if you are a suitable candidate for CO2 laser resurfacing.
-
Preparation: Before the treatment we may recommend that you prepare your skin by using specific skincare products or avoiding certain medications and topical treatments. This preparation helps optimise the results and minimise potential side effects.
-
Laser Treatment: Depending on the intensity of the treatment and your comfort level, we may use a topical numbing cream to numbing injections to ensure you are comfortable during the procedure. The procedure is typically performed in passes, with the practitioner carefully controlling the depth and intensity of the treatment. Both you and the practitioner will wear protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the laser light.
-
Sensation: You may experience a sensation of heat or warmth during the treatment, along with a mild prickling or burning sensation. The level of discomfort can vary depending on the type of anaesthesia used and the intensity of the laser.
-
Post-Treatment Care: After the procedure, your skin will be quite red and may feel like a severe sunburn. Your healthcare provider will provide post-treatment instructions, which may include applying a soothing ointment or cream and avoiding direct sunlight. You will need to keep the treated area clean and follow a specific skincare regimen as directed by your provider.

Depending on the intensity of the treatment the full results of CO2 laser treatment may take several weeks to months to become apparent as new collagen forms and the skin continues to heal. Patients often notice an improvement in the texture and tone of the skin within the first 1-2 weeks, but it will take approximately 3 months for the final results to be apparent.
CO2 laser resurfacing typically requires some downtime for recovery. Immediately after the procedure, the treated area may appear red and swollen, similar to a sunburn. Over the following days and weeks, the old, damaged skin will gradually peel away, revealing new, smoother skin underneath. This process can take one to over two weeks depending on the intensity of the treatment. It is essential you follow the provided after-care protocol at this time to ensure best results
